A KNIGHTS TALE

In a knight’s tale what does it expose about the life of a peasant/someone not noble?

When born into a lower class family you cannot then be enrolled in a higher class. Although in the film “A Knights Tale” it exposes that to be a part of anything to do with a higher class you must lie about your class to be accepted to participate.

REvolution Questions-

Explain why the revolution was different from the others? What dates are we looking at?

It is different because it is considered the first modern revolution. This revolution changed society – rather than replacing rulers or the political regime. The French Revolution created new ideas for the society and social statuses. This period in European history lasted ten years, 1789-1799.

What sparked the revolution? Could it been avoided?

The middle and lower classes in the current feudal system wanted more power and fairness. The taxes were very high, the poor was starving and the country was bankrupt. So when King Louis XVI failed to bring in reforms in time to stop the revolution, it had already rose up.

What happened on July 14th 1789?

On this date, the people of Paris were scared that the army was ordered to attack. Because of this, they collected any weapons to arm themselves and went to the Bastille in search for gun powder. They were successful, capturing the fort. After that the revolution had begun.

Who was King Louis XVI? Who was Marie Antoinette?

King Louis and Marie Antoinette were the rulers of France at that time; king and queen. These rulers were captured prisoners after the take-over of Bastille along with their children. The family then tried to escape but we caught and sent back to Paris when they were recognised just before the border.

Who was Maximilien De Robsepirre? How did he die and why?

He was one of the leading rulers during the revolution. Robsepirre created a wave of fear over France and his opponents were being sent to the guillotine. But in 1794 without trial, he was seized and beheaded.

What role did Georges Jacques Danton play?

French Revolutionary leader, sometimes known as the chief force in the establishment of the First French Republic (September 21, 1792). He later became the first president of the Committee of Public Safety, but because of his eventual opposition he was beheaded at the guillotine in 1794.
